With a higher core clock speed, dual memory, more powerful arm cores, optional RISC-V cores, new security features and improved interface functions, the Raspberry Pi pico 2 offers a significant increase in performance, while remaining compatible with previous members of the Raspberry Pi Pico series.
Programmable in C/C++ and Python and with detailed documentation, the Raspberry Pi pico 2 is the ideal microcontroller board for enthusiasts and professional developers alike.
The chip from the new Block
The Raspberry Pi pico 2 is powered by RP2350, the new powerful and safe microcontroller. Every aspect of the design has been improved, from the CPU cores to our unique PIO interface subsystem. We have introduced a comprehensive security architecture based on Arm TrustZone for Cortex-M. And new low-power states and chassis options extend the bandwidth of addressable applications.
Switch on
The RP2350’s unique dual-core and dual-architecture capability allows users to choose between a pair of industry standard arm Cortex-M33 cores and an open hardware standard pair of Hazard3 cores. This gives developers the opportunity to experiment with RISC-V architecture in a stable, well-supported environment.
Radical transparency
The RP2350’s security architecture, including the safe boot ROM, is fully documented and fully available to all users: This transparent approach, unlike the “security through ambiguity” offered by older vendors, allows professional users to confidently integrate the RP2350 and the Raspberry Pi pico 2 into products.
Features
- Optional boot signing, enforced by on-chip mask ROM, with key fingerprint in OTP
- Protected OTP memory for optional boot decryption keys
- Global bus filtering based on arm or RISC-V security/privilege levels
- Peripheral devices, GPIOs and DMA channels can be individually assigned to security domains
- Hardware mitigations for Fault Injection attacks
- Hardware SHA-256 accelerator
